International Standards Organization and British Standards Institute

Standards of practice are crucial to improving organizational culture, corporate governance and conduct. Even if voluntary, international standards provide a de minimis set of practices and an operational framework for reference and implementation across supply chains. Improved corporate governance practices improve mechanisms of preventing exploitation.

Praeveni is currently focused on standards relating to Governance, Modern Slavery, Anti-Money Laundering, and Sustainability.

Work to date

Kevin Hyland (CEO of Praeveni) and Duncan Jepson (Chair of the board of directors) are members of the Working Group for ISO 37200 - Standard on Modern Slavery. Praeveni has provided detailed comments on the recent draft of ISO 37200.

Kevin and Duncan are also members of the ISO Anti-Money Laundering Working Group. Duncan is co-leading discussions on the potential for an anti-money laundering standard or guidance framework. David Becker (a Praeveni board member) is engaging with the Anti-Money Laundering Working Group, drawing on his experience with the Asia Pacific Group and Financial Action Taskforce.

Duncan is the chair of the ISO Working Group to revise ISO Guide 82 - Guidance on Sustainability. ISO Guide 82 is used by standard setters in the creation and revision of standards.

Both, Kevin and Duncan, work on the G1 Governance Committee.
